About the event

Trick-or-Treat for Charity Prague was started in 2017 by Dinah Spritzer-Richter and friends, has supported SOS Children’s Villages from the first year and in 2026 reaches its 10th edition. It is organised by volunteers in their spare time.

How did it start?

Dinah Spritzer-Richter and several friends organised the first American-style Halloween in Prague for her two children in 2017. From the very first year the coins went to children in SOS Children’s Villages; Dinah sees the charity side as just as important as a joyful evening for the kids.

What began as a neighbourhood walk grew into one of Prague’s biggest community Halloween events: in 2025 there were 92 stops and around 2,000 children and parents, who raised almost CZK 300,000 despite the rain.

Who organises it?

A team of volunteers – hosts, helpers, candy donors and photographers – prepares the walk in their free time. Nobody is paid, so please forgive the odd hiccup; the team does its best to keep everything running smoothly.

Who are SOS Children’s Villages?

SOS dětské vesničky is the oldest Czech non-profit focused on children, active for almost 60 years and part of the international SOS Children’s Villages federation. It gives children who have lost their parents, or whose parents cannot care for them, a safe home and family-like care. SOS runs the central stand of the walk on Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad.
